Vice President of Interoperability
Mr. DeVault serves as the VP of Interoperability for Epic, the U.S.’s most widely adopted electronic health record system. Each month, nearly 9 billion data transactions happen between Epic and 1000 other systems through 17,500+ standards-based interfaces and hundreds of APIs and web services. CareEverywhere is the nation’s largest EHR based health information exchange, supporting over 1.3 million patient records exchanged each day.
For over 20 years, Mr. DeVault has served in various leadership roles at Epic to improve key products, streamline implementation and improve interoperability with other systems in the U.S. and abroad. He is a strong proponent of industry-wide, global standards to improve the speed of connection between systems and has represented Epic on various groups and committees including HL7’s EHR Working Group, Certification Commissions for Heath IT (CCHIT), Electronic Health Record Association, Direct Project, S&I Framework, HL7 Genomics Workgroup, and The Sequoia Project’s Carequality.
Mr. DeVault holds degrees in Physics, Mathematics, Political Science and Philosophy from Purdue University.
